Jimmy Osmond
Jimmy Osmond is a multi-faceted entrepreneur, who has obtained success both on and off stage. Through his vast experience and knowledge in the entertainment industry, he has produced and promoted record breaking world-wide concert tours, ice extravaganzas, a variety of commercials and coordinated celebrity commercial endorsements.
The youngest member of the world-renowned Osmond family, Jimmy received the first of many accolades at the age of seven when he was awarded a gold record for a song he recorded in Japanese, My Little Darling. That same year, he was named Japan’s “Male Vocalist of the Year.” As a solo artist, Jimmy has accumulated six gold records, one platinum record, and two gold albums. In addition, Jimmy and his siblings have sold over 100 million records and share 51 gold and platinum recordings along with numerous other prestigious awards and honors, including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Before the age of 15, Jimmy had developed and supervised most of the Osmonds’ merchandising business. Soon after, he launched a successful advertising agency that handled production services and campaigns for larger corporations, such as Yamaha and Coca-Cola, as well as an elite portfolio of other high profile clients. Also, during this same time, he starred in his first motion picture entitled The Great Brain and went on to star in two award winning episodes of the TV show Fame; and, starred in his own show to sell-out crowds in Madison Square Garden.
In addition to live performances, Jimmy and his production companies have produced over eleven hundred hours of programming including theatrical films, made for television movies, TV specials, music videos, commercials and industrial videos for major U.S. and International corporations. Jimmy served as the executive producer of the ABC television movie, Inside The Osmonds and has served as a consultant to Warner Brothers developing new programming. He was also asked by the Chinese government to serve as a producer and consultant for live entertainment shows in China and the United States.
In 1992, Jimmy married Michelle Larson and has since become the father of four children: Sophia, Zachary, Wyatt, and Bella. Soon after they were married, Jimmy moved his base of operations from Los Angeles, California to Branson, Missouri. Since then Jimmy’s production company, Osmond Family Theater Productions have been hugely successful in Branson. Under his direction, the company has gained many awards including Branson’s prestigious “Show of The Year” and has entertained over two million visitors in the entertainment capitol in the heart of the Ozarks.
Jimmy was honored by the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce as one of Ten Outstanding Young Americans in 1999. Many notables have been honored as Outstanding Young Americans in the past including Presidents John F. Kennedy and Gerald Ford, Vice-Presidents Dan Quayle and Al Gore, Howard Hughes, Elvis Presley, and Christopher Reeve.
Throughout his time in the business, Jimmy has continued to tour with his brothers to the delight of their many fans.
In 2004, Jimmy made his solo debut in a British musical, performing in Boogie Nights for the summer season at Blackpool. The show broke box office records and paved the way for Jimmy to take his Jimmy Osmond’s American Jukebox Show to Blackpool the following year. Brothers Jay and Wayne joined him in a variety show that gave an entertaining journey through musical history.
While in Blackpool, Jimmy was asked to appear in ITV1’s highest rated light entertainment program I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!. His popular appearance, complete with the smuggled Hummy Bear, showed the British public that “little” Jimmy Osmond had well and truly grown up!
UK audiences have certainly taken Jimmy into their hearts and he has appeared on many TV shows including Celebrity Family Fortunes, Everybody Dance Now and Celebrity Come Dine With Me.
He made his debut on London’s West End in “Grease” in January 2009 .
Among his many talents; Jimmy is also an accomplished artist and cartoonist. His designs include the children’s book If Santa Were My Daddy and his infamous Jungle friend, Hummy Bear!
Jimmy holds numerous board positions, and as a member of the National Board of Governors for the Children’s Miracle Network, he has assisted in raising over 4 billion dollars to benefit Children’s hospitals in the US. His passion for the work of this charitable foundation has resulted in him accepting a position on the UK Board and he is working with them to bring the same benefits to Children’s Hospitals in the UK.
In addition he has sat on the Board of the Governor’s Select Panel on Tourism for the State of Missouri, the Economic Development Board, Chamber Board, and Marketing Advertising Board in Branson, and the Utah Valley State College Engineering Board.
He is also President of Osmond Entertainment which reunited all seven performing Osmonds in Las Vegas for their 50th Anniversary Reunion Concert in August 2007.
This show kicked off a year long celebration for the family, including sell-out concerts throughout the world. The live DVD of the Vegas shows produced by Jimmy, went straight in at number one in the UK charts and gained the family yet another Gold disc!
In December 2008, Jimmy made his debut in British Pantomime as the lovable Buttons in Cinderella and is currently fulfilling a life long ambition of appearing in London’s West End as the Teen Angel in Grease at the Piccadilly Theatre.
After Grease, Jimmy will star as Billy Flynn in the UK National tour of the smash-hit musical Chicago from March 8th until June 13th 2009.
